Chianti Classico DOP Olive Oil: Discovering the Paths of Greve in Chianti

The territory of Greve in Chianti, besides being graced with olive trees from which Chianti Classico DOP Olive Oil is produced, holds interesting surprises for hikers.

The summits of the Chianti mountains have a rocky formation with large woods and clearings that conceal untouched corners of nature and history. This splendid landscape can be explored through six loop trails accessible to everyone, totaling 70 km, allowing you to connect with the environment and history of the area where Chianti Classico DOP Olive Oil is made.

The Anello della Pesa (Path 434) is an itinerary that crosses vineyards and olive groves descending from the Panzano ridge to the river. 

If you are fascinated by medieval castles and mills, interspersed with springs and waterfalls, the Anello di Cintoia is the trail for you. 

For those who are not easily tired and are captivated by panoramic views, we recommend the Anello di Lamole, which crosses the Monte San Michele park, reaching a peak of 893 meters. 

The Anello di Ruffoli, with its roads waiting to be discovered, will take incurable dreamers to visit an enchanting village and the remains of the Montedomini Cross. 

If you love villages, we recommend the Anello di Montefioralle e Montegozi (Path 424), which passes through one of the most beautiful villages in Italy: Montefioralle. 

If you want to retrace the steps of one of Cosimo de’ Medici’s opponents, the Anello di Uzzano is for you. Along the path, you will encounter the eponymous castle, owned by the family of NiccolòDi Giovanni da Uzzano, a politician, humanist, and Gonfaloniere of Justice in Florence. 

Lastly, the Anello di Casa al Monte offers a relaxing scenic route through vineyards, olive groves, oak, and chestnut woods, leading to the springs of the Greve river.
